About

Have you reached the end of the work day and realize you’ve gotten through it speaking more to your computer than to humans?  Do you suspect your performance is measured by how late you stay rather than how productive you are?  Do you find that hard work and intelligence is a poor substitute for a good golf game?

I don’t play golf.  I don’t know what touchdowns were made by the new quarterback last Sunday.   I do see all of the games being played off the field but I just can’t make myself join them.

I work for a major corporation in a major US city (which will remain nameless, as will I!)  The events in this blog are true, though the names are changed to protect the innocent as well as the guilty.

I have a pet project, which is to improve the way I deal with conflict.  This means learning not to freeze, not to avoid, and not to run away.  I was taught to always think of other peoples’ feelings, always be nice, always turn the other cheek.  The downside of this upbringing is that what worked for Jesus does not always work for a woman who has to deal with an employees showing up at 10am or with a stranger putting his hand on her knee.

This blog is about succeeding, and figuring out what that means.
